I'm no expert, but watch lots of HGTV and look at all kinds of decor and craft magazines, as I'm sure most of you do! So, today's post is a decorating tip that really helped me! I told you all not too long ago, we've moved into our new home that took nearly 6 years to build (that's OK, anything worth having is worth waiting for, right?) and now I'm faced with the decorating dilema. One decorating tip I learned, was to ask myself, "What do I want the room to feel like, and what purpose will I need it to serve? Of course the bedroom is for sleeping, bedroom furniture, clothes, and maybe a TV, but what other function do I need? My bedroom is rather large and also has a retreat area on the other end. I have so much space I'm overwhelmed! I asked myself, "What do I need in this room?" I answered, "I need a place to go so I can read, watch a chick flick, maybe do a little homework, and allow my daughter to have some privacy with her date in the living room. Here is a photo of one end of the room...my side...it's like a "secret garden"! I wanted the room to feel as if I were by the ocean, in a local's home, not too nautical and corny, but a reminder that the ocean is not far away...even though it is. Maybe next week I'll show you other parts of the room...when I'm finished!
